Course Overview

CELTA is fast-paced and demanding course, and many candidates struggle not because they lack talent, but because they aren’t prepared for the technical expectations, teaching terminology, or intensity from day one. This preparation course gives you a clear introduction to CELTA’s core areas—methodology, lesson planning, language awareness, and reflective practice—while frequent microteaching sessions help you build confidence in a supportive setting. With insights from recent CELTA graduates, you’ll gain a realistic understanding of the challenges ahead and practical strategies to approach the course with confidence.

What You'll Learn

By completing this course, you will:

  • Understand the CELTA assessment criteria for Teaching Practice and Written Assignments.
  • Develop familiarity with key ELT terminology (e.g., CCQs, ICQs, learner autonomy, scaffolding).
  • Practise analysing grammar and lexis for teaching purposes, not just for correctness.
  • Learn how to stage and structure a lesson according to CELTA methodology.
  • Gain strategies for classroom management in an online or face-to-face environment.
  • Strengthen your awareness of phonology, pronunciation issues, and how to integrate them into lessons.
  • Build reflective habits that align with CELTA’s emphasis on self-evaluation and peer feedback.
